Recovery
in a rehabilitation center is difficult. With
an abundance of time, residents have little to occupy them in many under funded centers. Television becomes the
only source of information and entertainment.
Arguably, television does little to advance the mind. Recovery can be from
alcohol/drug abuse, trauma, mental distress, and physical ailments.
Helping those who are burdened with the task of coming back to
fulfilling,
useful lives could use a humanitarian effort.
Rehab centers need an influx of reading material, a comfortable space,
and computer/internet access. For
many
years,
recognition of solutions to mass problems such as illiteracy, poverty, hunger,
and crime can be traced to lack of educational opportunities.
A volunteer effort can
provide the essentials for potentially transforming lives with books of
inspiration, GED materials, poetry, job related material, AA and other such
books, works of fiction, self help, arts and crafts, chess, computer access and more.
A person would have an alternative access to entertainment through books,
make a change for the better and contribute again to society. This
project was assembled in a few short months in a group effort of love led by
David M. Fiebig in memorial for his brother, best friend, and best man Larry. Ongoing seasonal updates of
decorations and new books are done with continued donations and volunteer
effort. Thank you for your interest and support.
